About The Athlete's Cookbook
Welcome to the Athlete's Cookbook. Sports nutrition is my passion and is the science behind how nutrition can influence sporting performance. Most top athletes utilise a sports dietitian to assist them in their sporting performance. Indirectly because if you choose food well, you will train well, and if you train well, you will compete well. Strategic nutrition choices can also impact performance directly. And this is any athletes dream. Even if you are a weekend warrior you must consider sports nutrition.
This site reviews cookbooks for athletes, providing qualified and unbiased information about the large range of cookbooks available that are targeted to athletes. We also provide a range of recipes suitable for athletes, and some advice to help make informed choices about what to eat and what to cook.
This is a website all about healthy tasty recipes designed for the athlete, with relevant information about eating for sports performance. I hope you find that the recipes are not only good for you, but taste great too.
About the Author
Not only do I have a love of great tasting food, I am an experienced sports dietitian, and this site is about combining the two interests of my life. Often clients may not eat healthy food that is recommended because they don't like it, but all foods can be made to taste great with a little attention to detail. My aim is to debunk the myth that food that is good for you does not taste any good.
I have worked in sports nutrition all around Australia, from running my own practice in Darwin, working with Australia's elite athletes at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, and down in the sporting capital of Melbourne with Richmond Football Club and the Victorian Institute of Sport. I have now returned west to my home town of Perth.
I have a wide range of experiences with athletes of all levels and in different sporting environments. I have worked with elite athletes from all footy codes, winter sports, basketball, and tennis, but also with people from all walks of life and active backgrounds, including children and corporate staff. What I have found working with athletes is that they love to learn to cook new recipes that suit their nutrition needs as well as taste great.
I personally love being active and have participated in a variety of sports, including hockey, touch footy, and middle distance running, which I enjoy thoroughly. However, now my level of activity often involves chasing after my three beautiful children.
I am really passionate about keeping an active lifestyle, and believe that sports nutrition can really make a difference at every level. We only have one body for life so we should look after it!
